Let’s Go Nuclear with a Phantom Pain-esque Trailer for Metal Gear Solid 3

compare it to:

What, in order, are your favorite Metal Gear Solid games? For me, I have to go with:
MGS3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 1
MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
MGS: Portable Ops
not playing Metal Gear at all
MGS: Potable Ops Plus
then MGS2: Sons of Liberty.

I kind of wish I’d picked up Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I guess there’s still time but *ugh* who has the time? Chances are, however, that I will pick up Ground Zeroes before the Phantom Pain plops in 2015. How do you rank the series? Tell me in the comments or else:

Kojima? KOJIMAAAAAAA!!!!!! Hideo Kojima’s 8 Favorite Metal Gear Solid Cutscenes

Hideo Kojima, war fetishist, conspiracy theorist, and creator of Metal Gear Solid AND increasingly complex narratives that don’t-quite-pay-off, sits with IGN to talk about his eight favorite cutscenes from the Metal Gear Solid franchise, of which there are roughly 74 hours of.  Tough to narrow down to just eight, I know. Here’s what the man had to say:

MY personal favorite is from what I consider to be the best entry in the series so far, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, when Ocelot & Snake meet for the first time. Not only do you get to see Snake’s badass CQC up close but he also inadvertently gives birth to Revolver Ocelot, a character who’ll dog him (ed.note: ocelot him?) throughout the series.

Trailer Park: Massive E3 Trailer Dump

Gird your loins, MB’ers. In fact, go get a spoon, some peanut butter and a jar of marshmallow fluff so you can make & enjoy some deconstructed Fluffernutters as you settle in to watch 9 billion minutes of trailers.gameplay from E3.  Whatever you do though, don’t make any jokes about …”laying back and enjoying it, as it’ll all be over soon“, as we know how that went over.

Splinter Cell – Now in Portable Fan-made Movie Format

I was never a Splinter Cell guy. Part of it was my undying allegiance to Metal Gear Solid as the superior espionage/sneaking/complete nonsense game franchise. Some of it had to do with SC seemingly being an Xbox exclusive for a spell (ed. note: Can we get a fact check on that, please?). Mostly though, I think I always got it confused with Syphon Filter. Now THAT was a game! I can just endlessly taser dudes right in their sacks until they catch fire? Outside of smashing things with hammers (Hello, Red Faction) that may be my favorite game mechanic of all.

Or you can watch this quite excellent Splinter Cell fan-made movie.

Get the Rundown on Raiden’s New Duds

Sure am spending a curious amount of time salivating over a game I am most likely not going to get. Still, “hyper-kinetic-cyborg-ninja-sword-slash-adventure” has a powerful draw to this perpetual teenager.

Besides, what’s cooler that super-stylized attacks accented with kanji? Why do you think Akuma’s such a badass?

That there was a Metal Gear 25th Anniversary party in Tokyo last night?? I certainly didn’t. Luckily I have the Internet, which told me first thing this morning! Kotaku has very handily scooped up all the bits from last night’s event and have them all in one super sneaky mega post. No desire to read a super sneaky mega post? No sweat, they broke it out too:
