Hey, what’d you think of Elysium? Were you also super-psyched about it then get bored about 30 minutes in and spend the remainder of the film barely looking up from whatever bullshit you were doing on your iPad? Wow, me too! But that shouldn’t take away from the awesome vision and incredible design of the film. One of, if not the, chief designers and artists responsible for the look is artist Aaron Beck. Never even knew about this guy until I stumbled upon two articles from The Verge this morning (“Dark Arts” and “Designer Death“). This is the type of shit I used to sit down and try to draw but would ultimately end up with a page full of circles featuring asymmetrical spikes and wonky arms that didn’t quite hold true to Euclidian geometry. In other words, my artistic talent is basically equivalent to that of a petri dish full of algae (ed. note: don’t forget the agar!). So stuff like this just always blows me away. So check out some of his art here, read the articles and check out Aaron’s site for some equally awesome, non-Elysium art. You won’t be disappointed.
Unless you are, in which case:
So much more after the jump. For real.
Elysium is actually a really awesome movie if you watch it with the sound off and cut out Jodie Foster entirely.
