Kotaku says “An industry source familiar with the new system tells us the photo is the real deal. But bear in mind, it may not represent the final form of the controller. The touch-pad on the front of the controller is particularly interesting. According to the official Orbis documentation that was shared with us a few weeks ago, it will be a two-point multi-touch capable “pad” similar to the one on the back of the Vita. It can also be clicked for an additional input. Curiously, this prototype seems to not include a “Share” button, despite that button being described in the documentation.

I don’t know…looks pretty chunky & cheap to me.  But keep in mind that this is a prototype and isn’t the final form. Sigh….this is clearly a reality that I need to accept. Even if the PS4 launches this year, I’ll still probably wait to see how Microsoft & Sony’s next gen offerings shake out before I back either particular horse.  Can’t be running all wily-nilly (ed. note: or nimbly-bimbly) out to my local big box electr-o-mart to pick one of these guys up on launch day.

What I am particularly interested in seeing is how the games that are currently slated to be released this year deal with the imminent arrival of next gen systems.  Are any going to be delayed to that they can debut on the PS4/Xbox 720?  I seem to recall God of War 3 was ready to go for the PS2 but they held it back so it would make a bigger splash on the PS3. Whatever happens, February 20th should prove to be a very interesting day.

Was this once you? Who remembers getting ready to rage quit life when that the Legend of Zelda game that you’d THOUGHT you’d saved (gold cartridge, baby!) turned out to be lost in the 8bit abyss the next time you powered up your NES?As it turns out, that cartridge blowing? Yeah, all for naught.
